Beach
The journey to the coast is an experience in itself. You drive along a beautiful mountain road and through tunnels carved into the rock, with the views becoming more impressive by the minute. Eventually, you reach a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the immense marble quarries and the sea — a breathtaking sight.
On the coast you can choose between several seaside towns, such as Forte dei Marmi or Marina di Pietrasanta. The beaches here are lined with stylish beach clubs and restaurants where you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas and enjoy a delicious lunch. Beach Club Flavio even welcomes dogs. A few free beaches can be found on the far north and south sides of Forte dei Marmi.
On your way back, we highly recommend stopping for an aperitivo in the charming town of Pietrasanta, the artistic capital of Versilia and of marble craftsmanship. Over the years, this medieval town has become an open-air museum filled with galleries, sculptures and world-class contemporary art.
Transport
In under two hours you can fly from Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Rotterdam or Maastricht directly to Pisa Airport. From there it’s only 75 km to our location — perfect for both short and long stays. Renting a car at the airport is easy and often surprisingly affordable. We personally book through Auto Europe, where cancellation is free up to 48 hours before arrival.
Prefer to start your journey through the Garfagnana in a relaxed way? The train is a wonderful option. Rancone Lodges is perfectly connected to Pisa Airport, and the station of Camporgiano sits directly above our property — we’ll gladly pick you and your luggage up.
Lucca and Florence are also very easy to reach by train. Simply walk to the station at the top of the campsite and step off right in the city centre — no traffic, no parking stress, pure convenience.
Plan your journey easily through Trenitalia and discover how comfortable travelling through Italy can be.
